the best wedding day experience

Life doesn’t get much better than on a wedding day. It’s a chance to get dressed up, have some laughs over a few drinks, catch up with family and friends, and show your moves on the dance floor! … and every wedding needs a funny story to tell, right!

Weddings definitely aren’t stuffy like they use to be with the popularity of country style weddings, weddings being held in industrial warehouse spaces and dropping of tradition for a more alternative wedding experience. It’s an exciting time to be a professional wedding photographer with couples putting their unique style and personalities into their wedding day with lots of pretty details to photograph and a relaxed approach to celebrating their marriage. Even receptions aren’t boring any more with couples organising games for their guests to play and the return of the photo booth – and yes Boots Photography offers a studio style photo booth option.

Boots Photography can provide all day wedding photography coverage to capture bride and groom preparations through to the crazy dance floor moves well into the reception. Deb finds the best way to describe modern Australian weddings is “a big celebration with a wedding somewhere in the middle“.

Deb would rather let her images speak for her, so please have a browse through the featured Love Stories galleries at the top of this page or head over to the LOVE STORIES journal for Deb’s latest adventures.

Deb is a Nikon girl if you are interested, but seriously, her camera equipment are just tools of her photography trade. Deb shoots with the latest professional camera gear including the Nikon D810 and Nikon D800 camera bodies and a Nikon DF and D700 as backup camera bodies. Where Deb becomes a gear nerd is with her lenses, she loves shooting with prime lenses because of the quality of the glass – the 85mm, 50mm and 35mm are her absolute favourites, but also has the 24-70mm and 70-200mm. Naturally in her camera kit there are a bunch of flashes/speedlights and other lighting equipment, including an Icelight which resembles a Darth Vader saber sword, and she is known to overcompensate with backup batteries.

One little piece of advice I would offer brides and grooms when selecting someone to capture their big day; If your wedding photos fall in your top wedding priorities, then don’t just focus on the price, but make sure you are looking at real professionals, have a thorough look through their portfolio and make sure you fall in love with their style. Boots Photography also recommend that you share good chemistry with your photographer and are on the same page. Great photos are a result of trust between the photographer and couple, and good communication, so discuss what you don’t like as much as what you do like. Trust your gut instincts. A wedding day is a one time deal, so remember the advice we often hear in hindsight: “you get what you pay for“.
