Our style is documentary with quirky, intimate and fun bits thrown in with lots of real emotions and detail shots to capture the carefully handpicked pieces the bride will be wearing on her wedding day.  While we will have lots of fun on the shoot, I do throw in a few traditional must-have family portraits to keep your folks happy too.

While our approach is casual and fun, behind the facade we are professional at the same time. When you book your wedding photography with Boots Photography, we ensure your wedding experience is fun, enjoyable and stress-free. The must-have group and family photos are conducted with the least amount of fuss allowing you to get to the location shoot which is where we produce some of the more intimate and beautiful images of the bride and groom and some fun shots with the bridal party, then it’s onto the reception to enjoy the celebrations.

Weddings are truly a special day where two people make a commitment to each other, and whether you have a small intimate wedding or one on a grand scale, the memories of the day are something that should be treasured now and in the future. Naturally one day you will be telling your kids and grandchildren the story of how you guys got together and the journey that lead you to that point – and when your children get married they will want to see the all embarrassing fashions that were around in your day.

After your wedding day has ended you will be left only with memories, this is why your wedding photographs are so important. Your photographs are a record that tells the wedding day story as it unfolds and capture all the special moments. It’s important to select a photographer who is both an experienced professional photographer and also someone who can organise people and ensure the smooth running of your wedding day. Selecting the right photographer is an important factor in making sure you end up with wedding photos you will love for many years. Unfortunately I hear to many stories from couples after the fact  that weren’t happy with their photos which has lead us to believe the only way to run our business is to be extremely upfront with our information and pricing.  We can’t stress enough that old saying “you get what you pay for”.

Boots Photography believes in providing awesome photography for the wedding you want at an affordable price. Your wedding should reflect you as a couple, which is why we customise the photography style for each of our couples.  A big part behind the quality of our work is the high standard of photography produced, photo retouching and creative editing techniques we use make our photography stand out from other photographers.

Deborah Boots – principal photographer

Photography for me is about telling stories, but also creating wonderful memories that you will be proud to show your family and friends. It’s all about letting you be yourselves and relax in front of the camera, whether that is a casual wedding on the beach or in a garden setting, a traditional church wedding or something more creative and personalised like a vintage wedding, so you end up with beautiful photographs that capture you the way you want to be seen.

Deborah Boots, principal photographer of Boots Photography, is not only a photographer, but an experienced designer and photo retoucher with all retouching done in-house.

My work is mostly people photography – weddings & portraits – with the occasional commercial gig and corporate headshots.  While I always thought I wanted to be a fashion photographer, I accidently stumbled upon shooting weddings, quickly realised photographing weddings is what I truly love and gives me immense satisfaction.   In my spare time I like to shoot landscapes and personal projects, and at the beginning of 2011 joined forces with a Brisbane fashion photographer to run fashion photography workshops which I have found to be extremely rewarding and gives me my fix for fashion photography. Yes photography rules my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Wedding Photography Packages

Our wedding photography packages are made simple – all you need to decide is how many hours you want covered on your day. And Yes our packages include  non-watermarked genuine high resolution edited images on disk!

Typical wedding coverage is for 6 hours from bridal preparation through to the mock cake cutting. Boots Photography also offers a Reception package which includes a Photo Booth session complete with props which is a form of entertainment in itself. The advantages of our Photo Booth session is that we use a backdrop (up to 3 metres wide depending on available space) plus you receive high resolution images supplied in colour and/or b&w on your disk. Check out some of the crazy Photo Booth fun here.

Engagement Sessions

To help you prepare for your wedding day and get comfortable in front of the camera, we have Engagement and Pre-wedding photography session packages for our brides and grooms.  Engagement sessions are a great way to get images to use for Save The Date cards, wedding invitations, wedding guest books, photo for the entrance to the reception, but also a great way to start your photography collection for your new family.

Product Options

Boots Photography has a range of add-on products including wedding albums, coffee table books, parent albums, prints, canvases, DVD slideshows, print boxes and more.

I can happily say, practically every client ends up purchasing something to display their photos.  Products can either be pre-purchased with a photography package or after the event to help you spread out the costs but still get everything you want to remember your wedding day.

All images supplied on the disk are edited with basic adjustments to the overall photo such as contrast, sharpening etc.  However, if you purchase Wedding Albums, Coffee Table Books, Canvases, Wall Art, Print Enlargements etc. the images are further worked, retouched to remove spots and distracting background elements and further creative enhancements, along with our custom designed layouts to ensure your wedding album is a one of a kind.

I’m not a typical wedding photographer and that simply means I don’t practice hard-sell or emotional tactics to get you to stretch your budget and purchase albums and other products that you don’t either want or can’t afford.  I treat my clients how I would like to be treated. I’m driven by loving what I do, so I can promise to put all my effort into creating beautiful photographic memories for you and your family and be the best wedding photographer I can be!

Our hand picked range of exclusive and unique wedding books and albums are produced by the best industry tradespeople including professional printing labs, bookbinders and album manufacturers in Australia and overseas.

Deborah Boots has been creating wedding albums not only for her photography clients, but also for other professional photographers and brides and grooms through her design business Boots Creative + The Coffee Table Book.

Short Film Videos
Boots Photography also offers a Short Film package for tech-savvy brides and grooms.  The Short Film package includes video footage taken of key parts of the wedding day, edited down to around a 20 minute film that you can play on your iPhone, iPad, AppleTV or similar device, laptop or computer. Make sure you ask about the Short Film package at your consult.

Boots Photography Highlights

A highlight for Boots Photography in 2010 was to photograph the winning couple, Chani & Lindsay, from Episode 2 of Channel 7′s Four Weddings Australia TV Show, but closer to my heart for personal reasons, was having the great honour to photograph my girlfriend’s wedding who has been battling cancer – as I write this she has just passed her first wedding anniversary.  Im lucky to have had so many awesome brides and grooms in the past and loved each and every one for different reasons. One of the most satisfying parts of my job is meeting my brides and grooms at the consults and then getting to see them tie the knot in front of their family and friends as during the process I feel more like a friend at the wedding but with the awesome pleasure of being able to tell the story too.  I also get to meet a wide variety of personalities from different walks of life and that has to be one of the best things about photographing weddings.

2010 also saw the development of the Boots Photography brand which has really helped me to define the direction for my photography business – the ‘lovebirds’ symbol signifies what I love to photograph, and that is people in love and enjoying each others company on one of the happiest days of their lives. While the logo initially started out as black & white, signifying my love for b&w film photography and also represent the traditional bride and groom attire, but recently has been adapted to suit my love of everything vintage. I do have an awesome job which is only possible because of each and every one of my wonderful clients and I appreciate them every day as it affords me to do what I love !!

Boots Photography was interviewed by Capture (Australia’s Top-Selling Pro Photography Magazine) for an article on the future of wedding photography and products for The Wedding Special July/August 2011 issue.  I have to say I was stoked (and I never use that word) to have been interviewed, but especially to feature in a photography magazine with some of Australia’s top wedding photographers, in particular my favourite Australian wedding photographer. The article covered topics on embracing new digital camera technologies, how wedding product trends are changing, delivery of images using devices such as iPads, iPods, Facebook, how video is making a come back by fusing photos and video, photo booths, going back to shooting film, vintage weddings, etc.

2011 peak wedding season is about to begin which is really exciting as I can’t wait to photograph some awesome brides and grooms plus some exciting developments are underway.  Then 2012 is going to be another fabulous year with lots more amazing brides and grooms  and more developments to expand on the Lovebirds branding – make sure you ‘like’ the Boots Photography Facebook page to follow all our photography adventures.

Wrap up

As much as I love technology, I feel that the devices we use to view photos have devalued the quality and appreciation of a printed photograph, as we are accustomed to seeing poor quality photos scattered on social networking sites like Facebook.  Im very passionate about producing quality and affordable wedding photography as photographs document important moments in our lives. These stories are not only important for our families but future generations. Photographs not only tell our family’s story, but of people, culture and the environments we inhabit, so we all are an integral part of documenting history.  I encourage you to select a photographer that cares about recording your story and hopefully that is me.

When you choose Boots Photography as your wedding photographer, you will be assured that your wedding photographs and any products will become treasured heirlooms that you and your children will look back on in years to come with many great memories.

Our relaxed photography style suits unconventional weddings but equally as well with your traditional church weddings, as we are highly adaptable and versatile. We have a huge selection of photography work on our blog to help make choosing Deborah Boots and Boots Photography as your photographer.

Im not interested in being an award winning photographer, as I believe no award is greater than being able to tell my couple’s wedding day story shared with their loved ones, and putting my energy into creating beautiful memories for them.

Id rather let my work speak for me, so please have a browse through my wedding photography portfolio and engagement portraits.
